Grand Rapids – Bartender

Location: Long Road Distillers – Grand Rapids
Supervisor: Long Road Distillers – Grand Rapids- Tasting Room Manager
Direct Reports: None
Compensation: Hourly + Tips

Long Road Grand Rapids is looking for a dedicated, hardworking team player to join our front of house team. We are looking for someone who is excited about working in a high volume environment, can create a unique guest experience and has a passion for doing things the right way.

Ideal candidates will have:

– a minimum of 1 year of prior bar tending experience
– familiarity of craft cocktails and spirits
– open availability
– great communication skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include (but are not limited to):
Mix drinks, cocktails and other bar beverages as ordered and in accordance with LRD recipes and standards
Greet guests, take beverage orders directly from guests and from other service staff
Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
Collect payment for drinks and food orders served and balance all receipts
Ensure that assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for serving guests prior to each shift and as needed
Serve snacks and food items to guests seated at bar as needed
Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of spirits, cocktails, and food menu in order to answer questions or educate guests on LRD process and mission
Maintain a clean working area by sweeping, cleaning, and sanitizing as needed
Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards

Grand Rapids – Server

Location: Long Road Distillers – Grand Rapids
Supervisor: Long Road Distillers – Grand Rapids – Tasting Room Manager

Clear tables of glassware and bring to kitchen for washing

Participate in regular trainings to learn about LRD spirits and drinks
Maintain a clean working area by sweeping, cleaning, and sanitizing as needed
Ensure chairs and floor area around tables and waiting area are clean
Assist with other duties as needed, particularly during opening and closing shifts
Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards

Grand Rapids – Cocktail Kitchen Prep

Location: Long Road Distillers – Grand Rapids
Supervisor: Long Road Distillers – Grand Rapids – General Manager
Direct Reports: None
Compensation: Hourly $15-18/hr

Long Road Distillers Grand Rapids is looking for a full-time bar-prep cook. Join our beverage team that has been named Best Cocktail Bar in Grand Rapids 6 times, and learn how to take the Long Road to cocktails. All of our cocktail ingredients are made from scratch, for all 3 of our Long Road cocktail bars, be part of the team that makes this happen. If you like to putting in the work to make things from start to finish, this is a great position for you.

Ideal candidates will have:

Be precise and detail oriented
Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with prep cooks, wait staff and Chef
Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hot environment
Flexibility with job duties and shifts, willing to arrive 10 minutes prior to assigned shift
Knowledge of kitchen equipment and safety best practices
Knowledge of cooking procedures
Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills
Prior experience in related cocktail bar service positions preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include (but are not limited to):
Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders
Prepare bar prep in collaboration with General Manager so that excellence, quality, and storage of beverage prep is achieved and preserved
Keep work area neat and clean at all times; clean equipment used in beverage preparation
Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques
Wash dishes and pots and operate dish washing equipment
Empty trash containers as required
Maintain a friendly work environment through constant, positive communication

Grand Haven – General Manager

Location: Long Road Distillers – Grand Haven
Supervisor: Long Road Distillers Operations Director
Direct Reports: FOH Employees – bartenders, bar backs, hosts, servers
Compensation: Salary + Bonus

Long Road Distillers is hiring a Front of House Manager to coach our FOH staff, lead our customer experience and build the Long Road brand at our Grand Haven location. This person will believe in and model customer service excellence for our team. They will coach and educate staff, foster a positive workplace culture built on respecting our brand, our customers and our team members, and will be part of a leadership team that is focused on innovation, growth and profitability.

Ideal candidates will have:

Minimum 1 year cocktail bartending experience desired;
Minimum 3 years customer service experience;
Minimum 2 years management and leadership experience desired;
Passionate about brand building;
Track record of fostering a positive work environment with a culture of respect;
Experience working with craft brands preferred;
Understands that setting up their team for success is the number one priority;
Able to relate to all different types of people, both as customers and employees;
Has positive attitude, and can help others do the same;
Able to work long hours, primarily weekends and evenings;
Serve Safe Manager or TIPS Manager training prior to start date (employer supported)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include (but are not limited to):
Positively and effectively coach and model LRD standards of service with FOH staff;
Supervise floor during Tasting Room hours; including but not limited to greeting customers, expediting cocktails and food, checking in on staff, hosting guests and ensuring cleanliness of all indoor and outdoor areas
Handle all aspects of customer experience to ensure guest satisfaction which may include correcting staff or order errors, navigating customer satisfaction complaints and/or assisting guests as needed so that they understand why systems we use are designed for the best possible experiences for all involved;
Daily pre-shift with FOH staff, and chef;
Ensure FOH staff have all assets needed to ensure successful communication during shift, ie: printed menus and feature sheets;
Manage FOH scheduling;
FOH employee hiring and training;
Coordinate systems for training, and implementation of new seasonal cocktails and food menus with Beverage Team and Chef;
Work with prep staff to create weekly prep schedule;
Be part of cocktail development team
Schedule and lead monthly staff meeting;
Manage tasting room labor costs;
Manage tasting room costs of goods;
Implement and carry out inventory tracking system for FOH
Organize and keep updated the Point of Sale software to meet the needs of guests, staff and management for organizational efficiency
Execute daily reporting for staff hours, wages, tips, etc
Report bi-weekly payroll calculations for FOH staff

Grand Haven – Kitchen Manager

Location: Long Road Distillers – Grand Haven
Supervisor: Long Road Distillers Operations Director
Direct Reports: BOH Employees – line cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers
Compensation: Salary + Bonus

Long Road Distillers is hiring a Kitchen Manager to coach our BOH staff, lead culinary experience and build the Long Road brand at our Grand Haven location. This person will believe in and model excellence for our team. They will coach and educate staff, foster a positive workplace culture built on respecting our brand, our customers and our team members, and will be part of a leadership team that is focused on innovation, growth and profitability.

Ideal candidates will have:
Proven culinary experience leading a kitchen or a team within a kitchen
Demonstrated ability of kitchen management
Ability to work independently, to divide responsibilities and monitor progress with the kitchen staff as well as work directly with the kitchen team daily.
Outstanding communication and leadership skills
Passion for following culinary trends and efficient kitchen processes
Serve Safe Food Protection Manager Certification or be able to acquire it within 30 days of the start of employment.
Understanding of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, GMail, etc).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include (but are not limited to):

Execute, control and direct the preparation of all food which includes necessary process and other activities needed for food safety and quality control.
Cost, create, construct and execute food menus with new or existing menu items to ensure quality, value and enjoyment from our guests.
Ensure finished plates are of standard before being presented to a guest.
Manage relationships with vendor partners to ensure quality and diversity of products being served while also aligning with food cost expectations.
Manage ordering to ensure appropriate inventory, planning for depletion and rotations of stock while limiting waste.
Ability to budget kitchen inventory, successful cost all dishes prior to menu inclusion and track waste to control food cost.
Arrange for repairs of equipment and required inspections when necessary
Problem solve when necessary while working with management to address any concerns as they arise.
Hiring, manage and train kitchen staff
Oversee the work of the kitchen team, helping grow their skills, keep them on task and ensuring work is done in an efficient and quality manner
Schedule and manage staff hours, budgeting kitchen labor based upon anticipated sales levels which includes seasonal and event fluctuations
Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards
Serve as the lead point of contact for kitchen operations with Health Department/Michigan Department of Agriculture
Maintain a team environment with a culture of respect, that values diversity and executes at a proficient level necessary for success.
